Bowtie serger quilt

In serger class this week we made a quilt entirely on the serger.  The bowtie pattern was pretty easy and the rows of the quilt were put together in a quilt as you go method.  Instead of doing a traditional binding, we finished the edge with a decorative wave stitch.  This is my first charity quilt of the year.

Tea Towels-Days of the week

It feels good to get some gifts made early this year.  These towels are for my mom.  Of course, Wednesday is my favorite.   They are from the vintage collection from Anita Gooddesign.

Paper pieced quilt

I am so thrilled to finally finish this quilt.  It is my first paper pieced quilt and the first quilt to send out to a long-arm quilter.  This is going in the quilt show for our guild in March and then he gets to hang it up on the fireplace.

First Applique Quilt

This has been a labor of love and took several years to complete.  The needle turn applique was done in hotels while traveling for work and pleasure.  I have discovered the joys of having quilts quilted via long arm and had this done by Sandy.  You probably can't see all the lovely quilting but trust me it looks great.  Our quilt guild is holding a quilt show next month so I am going to enter this as one of my entries.

Purple and gold handbag

While sewing with friends a few weeks ago we made handbags from the same pattern.  It is amazing how different this bag looks with different fabric choices.  It so happens that one of the friends seems to know almost everything about sewing so I learned quite a few tips while making this bag including how to use some of my never used sewing feet.  I love all the pockets it has inside which are shown in the second photo.  Not sure if I am keeping this bag or giving it away as a gift.  I had just finished taking a two day embroidery class so of course, I had to embroider the pocket.

Serger scarves

The project last week for serger club was scarves.  Here is the one I made in class with tee-shirt material.
And here is the one I made at home with sweater knit I found at Hancock's.  I wore this scarf at the embroidery event over the weekend and had many positive comments on it.

Projects from embroidery class

I attended a two day embroidery class this weekend with the Stitchin Sisters.  What a fun time.  We sat at tables of three and I was lucky to be at the same table with my good friend Jennifer.  Each of us made two projects each day so I ended up with four projects.

This was my first project and is going to be a gift for Monica who is due next month to have her first baby.

This credit card mini wallet was made completely in the hoop.

This tea towel was done in two hoopings so learned how to do this valuable lesson.

An eyeglass made completely in the hoop including the zipper.
