Blossom Bag

I have been working on completing some of the kits I own as a way of cleaning up my sewing room.  Amazing how patterns and fabric seem to multiply on their own.  This bag was a kit from Connecting Threads.  The front of the bag has a vinyl cover over the fabric and the back is plain fabric that was quilted with a layer of fusible fleece.  Not a large bag but might be a cute bag to enclose a gift.

Sleeve board recover

I have been wanting a sleeve board for awhile but the new ones I have found are metal and not very sturdy.  Wish I would have kept the one I had in the 70's when I did a lot of garment sewing.  This wooden sleeve board was found on eBay and came with a clapper.  The downside was the cover was very stained and I was worried that some of the stains might come through on my projects.  I took the cover off to clean it and the padding was stained as well.  Decided to start over fresh with wool batting and made an attractive cover.  I really like how it turned out.

Charity quilts #1,2, and 3

While sick with a cold last weekend, I made the first charity quilts of 2012.  All three quilts were from the disappearing nine-patch pattern.  I am hoping to turn these in at the August quilt guild meeting.

Blue and tan table runner

In between projects, I made finished this table runner with no particular purpose.  Another kit from Connecting Threads purchased years ago.  It may go in the gift pile so I am not scrambling to get everything made between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Sure-Fit Design Muslin Blouse

A few months ago I purchased the Sure-Fit Designs system.  I am always on the lookout for a better fitting pattern and this might fit the bill.  I like the fact that I can create a blueprint that will work for all patterns whether I draft them myself off the blueprint or put under a commercial pattern to ensure better fit. I also love the fact that the company is based out of Eugene, Oregon where I used to live and still have many dear friends. 

This is the first muslin using the Dress Kit.  The fabric was picked up fairly cheap at Hancock's a few years ago.  Since I was making a wearable muslin, I added some trim to the center front to give the muslin some personality. Dressing this up for work, it was paired with white crop pants, a yellow cardigan and orange sandals.  Pretty cute and received complements on my new top.  I am still working on fitting tweaks but this is closer than I have gotten in a while with fit.

Blue and white table runner

This is the final kit to finish from the blue and white collection from Connecting Threads.  I love how quick this table runner was to put together and will save the pattern to make again.  

Blue and white flower table runner

Another project to coordinate with the living room refresh project.  This was a kit from Connecting Threads to coordinate with the quilts made for the love seats.  The flowers were done by fusing raw edge fabric and then sewing around shape with a very small zigzag stitch.  I echo quilted around the flowers and scalloped the edge of the runner.  Not sure if I will put this on one of the tables in the living room or the dining room table.
